    Why Trust Home 101?

BlueStar, previously known as Prizer-Painter Stove Works, Inc., first began producing ranges in 1880 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Since then, BlueStar has been manufacturing professional-grade appliances for chefs and homeowners.

It wasn’t until 2006 that BlueStar started offering customization and personalization on its products. BlueStar ranges can be found in various local stores such as Home101 Appliances.

    Is BlueStar a Good Brand?

We believe BlueStar is a good brand for a few reasons. To start, all BlueStar products are manufactured in the US—Pennsylvania to be exact. In addition, BlueStar raises the standard of ranges by engineering them to be commercial quality and ready for any chef to use. Furthermore, BlueStar accommodates homeowners by giving them the option to deeply personalize and customize their individual ranges. The wide variety of custom options shows how much BlueStar cares about providing a quality range that meets each customer’s kitchen aesthetics.

When it comes to updating your kitchen, replacing your outdated range with a BlueStar range is a great first step. Because BlueStar offers so many personalization options, you can make sure your range matches your kitchen’s style and color scheme.

    BlueStar Range Features

BlueStar ranges have top-notch features and can be customized in a variety of ways. Below are some of BlueStar’s major range features.

    25,000 BTU Burners

PrimeNovaTM burners that are featured within the Platinum Series provide up to 25,000 BTUs for searing and ultra-rapid boiling.

    Gentle Simmer Burner

On the other hand, each BlueStar range features a gentle 130° simmer burner that perfectly melts chocolate or warms sauces.

    Extra-Large Convection Oven

The extra-large convection ovens can hold full-size commercial sheet pans and include 1850° infrared broilers. They also are built with True European Convection and full-extension racks.

    Customizable

One thing about BlueStar that stands out from the crowd is the option to customize cooktop configurations, colors, textures, knobs, trims, and even door styles. Built-in griddles, Char broilers, French Tops, or integrated griddle char broiler systems can be added. There are over 1000+ colors to pick from in addition to textured finishes. Standard doors can be replaced with swing left, swing right, or chef-preferred French Doors.

    BlueStar Range Series’

BlueStar currently has 5 collections of ranges: Platinum, Nova, Precious Metals, Culinary, and Sealed Burner. Each of these series are unique as you’ll see below.

    Platinum

BlueStar Platinum ranges include 25,000 BTU burners in addition to a griddle char broiler that can be interchangeably used. Within this line is the PowR Oven™, a technology that increases the overall pre-heat time by 30% by heating the oven from the back instead of the bottom.

    • Range sizes available: 24” to 60”
    • Customizable: Yes

    Nova (RNB)

The BlueStar Nova (RNB) series is known as the “most customizable series” by BlueStar. The color, cooking surface, and doors can all be customized. For example, a swing door can be added, or a griddle added to the cooktop. There is a 22,000 BTU burner and 15,000 BTU burners in addition to a simmer burner. Ovens within this series come with an 1850° infrared broiler and are large enough to fit a full-size commercial baking sheet inside.

    • Range sizes available: 24” to 60”
    • Customizable: Yes, very

    Precious Metals

The Precious Metals series, also known as the designer’s choice, is the only series that features French doors standard. Designed with help from All-Star Chefs, the Precious Metals series includes features that a chef would prefer to have. These ranges also have unique color options such as Infused Copper and Matte Black. Knobs and trim can also be customized to match the color of your choice.

    • Range sizes available: 30” and 36”
    • Customizable: Yes

    Culinary (RCS)

You’ll find professional-grade ranges without all the customizable options within BlueStar’s Culinary series. These stainless-steel ranges include searing top burners and extra-large oven capacity. Even though there are minimal customization options with these ranges, you can still customize them with painted knobs.

    • Range sizes available:
    • Customizable: Yes, minimal

    Sealed Burner

Within this series are professional ranges for people who don’t want an open burner range. The top burner has up to 21000 BTUs and includes a power simmer burner. These ranges also include an 1850° infrared broiler.

    • Range sizes available: 30” and 36”
    • Customizable: Yes

    BlueStar Range Sizes

BlueStar currently produces a variety of gas and dual fuel ranges in these sizes: 24”, 30”, 36”, 48”, and 60”. Ranges that are 24 to 30 inches are average-sized ranges that typically have four burners. Ranges that are 36” include 6 burners or 4 burners with a griddle in the middle of the burners. These average-sized ranges include 1 oven cavity.

Once you get to 48” ranges, you’ll notice more cooktops with additions such as a griddle, french top, or char broiler, although some ranges simply feature include 8 sealed burners without extras. Finally, the 60” ranges can also be found with a variety of cooktop configurations, or they include 10 total burners. Both the 48” and 60” ranges feature double oven cavities.

    Is BlueStar Right for You?

Before purchasing a BlueStar range, there are a few questions to consider helping you decide if BlueStar is right for you:

    Do you love to cook?

BlueStar ranges are high-quality and professional grade. They are perfect for chefs and those who love to cook because they offer precise simmer burners and intense searing burners. Many BlueStar ovens can fit full-sized commercial sheet pans too.

    Do you enjoy customizing?

If you value the ability to customize your appliances, a BlueStar range is the right fit for you. With a ton of ways to personalize your range from the colors to the cooking top to the doors and more, you’ll love being able to match your range perfectly to your kitchen style.

Do you want more cooking versatility?

Some BlueStar range models offer versatility when it comes to cooking. For example, Platinum ranges include burners in addition to a griddle or char broiler. This is handy for those who want to be able to use their cooktop for more types of cooking.

Are you looking for a budget-friendly range?

Since BlueStar is a luxury range brand, their prices are higher than your average range. For example, a 30” stainless steel range from BlueStar may cost about $5,000 whereas an average stainless-steel range may only cost about $600. With that being said, BlueStar would not be the right brand for you if you’re trying to find a more budget-friendly range.

    BlueStar Range Reviews

Below are three BlueStar ranges from BlueStar’s Culinary RCS Series. You’ll notice they range from 24” wide to 36” wide. We’ll review each model including how each model differs from the others.

This BlueStar RCS Series Range features 4 burners including 21,000 BTU burners (two front) and a precise 5,000 BTU simmer burner (back left). A 15,000 BTU burner sits on the back right of the cooktop. Because of the full-motion grate design, pots and pans can be moved easily and seamlessly across the cooktop. As for the extra-large commercial-grade convection oven, a half-size commercial sheet pan can fit inside. Food is evenly cooked or baked with the convection fan system that evenly distributes heat. The 15,000 BTU broiler is as equally impressive, producing 1850° of searing heat so that foods can be broiled quickly.
